Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I pray your day is filled with blessings and celebration that our Savior rose from the dead. He's ALIVE! And amongst the egg hunts and Easter bunny visits, I hope we can all remember the true meaning of today. Christ is risen, he is risen indeed!

Have a great day!

*UPDATE*
I may be in high school, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy dying eggs and an Easter egg hunt! And some ruthless  friendly sibling competition.

Only Grace

I think in these weeks leading up to the project, I'm going to post occasionally with the little things that God reveals to me through the Word and otherwise. Stay tuned.

As I was finishing up my quiet time last night, a song popped into my head that I haven't heard in ages and I really paid attention to the lyrics this time. It's "Only Grace", by Matthew West.

"There's only grace
There's only love
There's only mercy and believe me, it's enough
You're sins are gone
Without a trace
And there's nothing left now
There's only grace"

That's so encouraging to me. We have a King. A graceful, merciful, loving King. A King who loved us enough to die for us. Who loved us enough to suffer and bleed and be tortured on a cross. And he's ALIVE. Our sins are gone without a trace. Jesus's blood covers us. I think that's important to remember as Easter comes up.

Sidenote: I don't know if this is a good comparison, but remember Passover and how God's people covered the door frames with lambs blood so their firstborns wouldn't die? The angel of death passed over them. I sometimes think of salvation in the same way. Those of us who have received salvation are the people in the houses and Jesus is blood is over our door frames so God overlooks our sin and we are saved from death. Maybe that was the point. All of the festivals, feasts, laws, instructions, etc. of the Old Testament had a purpose. They weren't there for no reason, although sometimes I read about them and think, "Seriously? What was the point of these?" But they all symbolize something, and maybe that's what Passover was meant to show. Does that sound right? (There's these things called "Comments" below...hint hint)

The main point is, God doesn't see our sin anymore. He forgives over and over. That's serious grace, y'all.

How blessed we are to have a God that doesn't get angry when you bother him, or that makes bad decisions, or that is unfair. He is merciful, all knowing, and just. Only grace. Only love. Only mercy.

And So It Begins...

Well the blog is up! Now it's time to spread the word. The project will officially kick off on May 24, 2013- the day after my school gets out.

I won't be posting a lot beforehand, but once this thing starts I will post every day with pictures of the run, my time, etc.

So it begins! Tell everyone you know! I don't have any personal social media accounts but many of you probably do, so talk about it on Facebook and use #milesandmilesproject on Twitter. (And don't forget to add the link to the blog!) But most importantly, pray. It's amazing just what prayer can do. And let's see how much we can raise for these people in India!
