Before and After
Colorado
My youth group took a trip to Colorado this last week. We returned to the same place we did last summer, and got to see a lot of the kids we worked with before! Each morning we got up and worked a Backyard Bible Club with the kids, who ranged in age from around 4-13. It's sort of like a Vacation Bible School. We had games, crafts, snacks, music, and bible study. Me and my friends Tiffany, Sierra, and Sarah worked crafts with them, and it was pretty fun!
Crafts with these beautiful children were so much fun!
In the afternoons, the pastor taught a fly-fishing class. Some of us were mentors for it, and on Friday, they all went fly-fishing. The seven of us (including me) that decided to work the bible club on Friday did other things in the afternoons when we weren't watching the class, like prayer walk.
On Wednesday, as you may remember I was raving about how beautiful it was. That afternoon we took a day trip after the fishing class to San Isabel National Forest. While the mentors practiced fishing, I got to run the most gorgeous forest and lake and rivers. Here's some of the scenery:
While we were there, Sierra and I had a little photo shoot.
This is just my favorite picture of us ever, hands down.
Grilling.
The "crane" yoga pose.
And that's just a sampling.
Friday the kids and mentors went fly fishing. It sounded like they had a pretty fun time. When they got back, the pastor had an invitiation, and about 6 or 7 kids received Christ! Friday evening we held a block party and we had a pretty good turnout! One of our guys broke through 4 inches of concrete with his head (don't worry, he's okay!) and another bent bars and broke through concrete slabs with sins written on them with his arm as a symbolism-type thing. (He's okay too!) Our band played and us crafters worked the concession stand. I was serving snowcones and by the end I was covered in syrup from head to toe! I don't know if anyone came to receive Christ but some families said they were interested in coming to the church so that was good. It is a church plant, after all.
I had to say goodbye to these pretty girls, Nya and Kiana! It was sad, but I am now pen pals with both!Overall, I would say it was successful, and I loved seeing all those kids! I sure will miss them. Please keep them in your prayers!
I've had some new donations recently, want to add to it?! :)
